Nice kill Your times seem to be a tick or two better than a well driven Mach1....At times I still wish I had my LT1.....dreams of a 396 still ring through my head at night

 

I dont see how a mach 1 would walk all over a 96-98 cobra since they have the same hp ratings, the cobras are an SVT related car and i think they are built better than the mach 1's also. A 96 cobra running 14.5's??? Not very believable to me.

 

You need to se them in person. they are seriously faster than even the 99/01 cobras. Lots of guys are dynoing 275-285rwhp stock on the MACH's. My buddy dynoed 270rwhp in his 99 cobra with the dealer fix and a CAI. My other buddy dynoed 287rwhp in his 97 Cobra and he has LT's, hi flow cat pipe, catback, timing adjust, & CAI. The mach's are easily faster.

 

I saw a Mach 1 at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway) and they were dialing in at 14.0

Sears produces bad numbers, but most people cannot come close to Car Rag numbers because:
1) They aren't pros
2) They don't power-shift
3) They don't know how to exit the box optimally.

That so, they (including me of course) are routinely in the 2.1++ 60' range and about .3 to .8 seconds slower through the traps than the car rags.

I'm happy with my 13.10, but I know the car could be a 12.NN second car if I powershifted or had some DRs.

When driven right, a mach1 is a solid low 13 second car. Yes they will walk anyway other n/a 4.6 stang. They have the intake cams from the licoln navigator for more tq. and better gearing. You shouldnt feel bad if you lose to one in your fbody, the mach1s are no joke.

 

I actually got to ride around in one the other weekend. I was visiting friends down in Florida and one of my buddies who posts on here (used to have a H/C LT1) has a stock 03 Mach I. His ran 13.2 @ 106mph. There definately has some ***** and would have ran circles around my 97 Cobra I had. The Mach does not have to deal with the IMRC setup the 96-98s had and has a better set of heads than the 99 & 01 Cobras.

ran into one myself this morning myself

i was doing ~75 and he was closing in ~85 in the rearview, i shut off the a/c & downshifted 6th > 4th when he passed me by and pulled in a few carlengths before 100mph, shut down to catch my exit after that. it was too short to say much but a fun while it lasted

 

i don't think a 96-98 cobra had the same hp/tq ratings of a 03/04 mach 1.

I just found out it was an A4. I think I still could edge out a stock M5 mach 1, expecially since I just put in 3.73's after the race with that mach 1. What do stock A4 mach 1's run in the 1/4?

 

I think you could take a manual mach. You got a nice list of mods there. Autos usually run around 13.7s or so in the 1/4 compared to the 5 spds 13.2.

 

i for the most part i beat the 96-03 cobras every time if stock or close to it . i have only raced two mach ones one i beat the other beat me and i see the mach 1's putting down a lot better numbers then the cobras, new cobras i wont go there

Yeah, and Chevrolet RATED the LS1 in the C5 and the Fbodies differently, but we all know they are the same motor and same real HP. Sometimes the factories play funky ratings games, including Ford.

 

Few small mods and you'll have a run for your money...good kill

 

The mach 1 are 305 hp, and the 96-98 cobras are 305 hp. Maybe im just looking at the wrong stats?
