97 z28 vs 97 cobra?
My friend wants to race his 1997 mustang cobra (manual and stock except for short shifter and exhausts) against me in my 97 30th anniversary z28 (a4 and stock except for exhaust and manual fan switch). So who has the edge here? I beat a newer roush mustang at the 1/8 mile strip by a few cars, but i dunno if he was just a bad driver...

Drivers race. Friends stock 96 was running 8.8's in the 1/8th when he learned to drive it properly (down from 10.1's) The 97's will put down about 260 or so to the wheels.

No, it really doesnt.
MM&FF, a predominantly FORD magazine tested two cobras and come out with the following, with a PROFESSIONAL driver.
A 1997 with slicks, gears (3.73's), powershifted, and allowed to cool down between runs Detroit Dragway, by Pete Misisnkey or whatever his name is, and it ran 13.7 at like 103.
And right before that, the same guy got to drive a bone stock (3.23 geared) 97 Cobra that was powershifted, but was on street tires. It did a best of 14.1 @ 100.
If a 97 Z28, that is stock, cant do better than a 14.1, powershifted, it should be thrown off a cliff.
