my friend wants to run me with his 02 z, hes got a slp lid, bellows, tb, oryp catback with cutout, bfg's on 18" zo6 wheels and at most a 100 shot dry which he rigged up like a jackass ( he claims he wont spray me ) he is also a m6 car everything else is stock,

What do u guys think the outcome is, i dont know how quick the ls1s are with what he has but before he had the spray and tires he went a 13.3 at the track.

my car pulls extreamly hard off the line and has some issues with the top of 3rd gear that has happend before and after the trans build, im running 11.8's @114 w/ a 1.65 60ft and that was before i had the prostars up front

Let's see ..... you've got a built 396, ~2800 stall converter, 3.91 gears, and you've run ~11.8's @ ~114 mph?

I think your buddy's '02 is toast! Unless he sprays, then I don't know what it'll run? That'll at least level the playing field. Chances are you'll still take the win, IMO .

 

If he sprays he has you beat.If he doesnt use the bottle sounds like you should win.

Your heavily modded and he has a few bolt ons...I guess it all depends on how your cars set up works but id say you got this one

 

well its his friend with the 02 z28 and lets get somethings straight here there is no tb on the car and it doesn't have a 100 shot on it...all it is was a 60shot first time ever spraying the car and i asked for the leave...11.8 vs 13.2??? just looking to see what my car would go after doing the ory drag radials ram air and nos...well i know ur all waiting at the edge of ur seats.....he was nice enough to give me a car and the leave.....and leave is what i did..the lt1 had some very bad hooking issues even on mt drag radials and let off when he saw there was no why he was going to catch me up top!!! well all i can say is i got lucky?!?!?! and maybe my car is in the 11's right frank??? lol we will try it again another time

Ah well, that's the whole beauty of racing ... you never know what can happen! I've won and lost races I probably "shouldn't have" .

 

if ur car went 13.2 and u know his car goes 11.8 would u be spraying???? hell yeah i sprayed but i didn't need to that is how bad i had him out due to spinning

 

Yeah, I'd hafta agree that an n/a 396 and a sprayed LS1 should be a pretty good race...anything can happen and his time it did...Sounds like the 396 has issues if it only traps what it traps...

he left pretty good. i spun hard into 2nd gear, those tires were sittin in the cold too long and it was damn freezing out too, i was trying to catch up in third when i hooked and i was but it wasent enough cuz of the crappy launch (at least it was a good smoke show ) 3rd gear in a ls1 m6 is amazing (then on spray.... wow)

once the weather warms up or i get prostars on the back with a thicker sidewall we will run again, props to u antony for a win

FYI

the reason for the bad trap speed is due to a tuning issue at the top of 3rd gear i have a slight hessitation between 5200 to 5800, and its been that way since the tune, im working on getting a dyno tune before the summer

 

Why build a engine that big if its going to run that crappy. No offence but i've seen cam only lt1's trap 114mph. Do you have a really small cam, or did you build the motor to spray it, and just havent gotten around to it yet?

 

notice how i said in my last post that im having some tuning issues in the upper rpms, for all i know im getting false knock thats kicking back my timing, i plan on spraying it eventually. i have a 9:8:1 compression ratio as well. the engine runs fine i have drivin it everyday for the past year and a half, cold weather, hot weather, in traffic, long road trips, fyi i have seen them trap 114mph cam only as well. ive also seen a 04 cobra go 12.3 at 124 mph with the same 60ft as me so what does that mean? i still finished first
