With the a really good head/cam package I could see that.

My car will be INSANE when I put the heads on it. I have yet to decide wich one's to get though.

You could probably have them ported further for even more n/a hp. What do they cost stock, $2000? That would be a sleeper LS1 from hell. The heads probably look close to stock from the outside.

The problem with all this speculation is the guy with and LS2 can do the same thing to his car. The LS2 should get even *better* results with the AFR heads because the extra bore size unshrouds the valves. Given that the LS2 has what are essentially LS6 heads, just a clean up should do pretty well with an aftermarket cam. You all seem to be forgetting that the LS2 is basically just a slightly larger displacement version of the LS1, but with better heads.

We never said an LS2 would not produce more power than a similarly modded LS1. We said a stock head, cammed LS2 would produce less power than a good heads, cam LS1. That is speculation in itself. We were also looking at how much power could be produced from a heads, cam LS1.

O.K., I misunderstood. As another datapoint, several people on a Z06 board have picked up 40 horses just by going from stock LS6 heads to the CNC ported AFR heads -- no other changes.

no, not compared to my car, compared to a z06/ls6. GM really didn't deliver on this new ls2 in my opinion, but hopefully the upcoming z06/7 (?) will set some more records.

What do you expect for the money? Dollar for dollar its unbeatable. They had to leave room for Aftermarket power! Look at what else you can get for its price range..Umm...nothing that compares thats for sure.

That's a nice gain for heads only!

A vette performs all around. Performs like cars that tripple its price.

Very true. That's all I meant anyway. The '03 Cobra is only as good as the Vette in a straight line. But new sticker prices were about $20K cheaper. That could buy a lot of cornering and braking ability.

Actually if you read Ford's literature, the Cobra wasn't made to compete against the Camaro/Firebird once it got IRS... It was made to compete against the Vette due to the Camaro/Firebird having a solid axle.
