94 Z28/99+ GT vs my 93 trans am

last night me and my bro went cruising but we got there kinda late and no one was there so we went back home. on the way back my bro wanted me to race him, he has an A4 Z with headers(full exhaust), gears, cai, pullies, and shift kit. so we go from a 50 and i got him by a 1 1/2 carlengths and still pulling hard before i let off. could have pulled more but i didnt see a need to since i was going 90+. right after i raced my bro a 99+ M5 GT was following us fast, so i let him pass me and my bro pulled back to get me next to the stang. he pulled ahead and i quickly caught up to him. we go from a 65 and i let him get a jump before i floored it. as soon as he down shifts he gets his rear bumper to my door then i put the pedal through the floor boards. i was still pulling hard when i let off around 90, saw his headlights in my rear view and i let off. i wanted to stop and talk to the guy in the stang but he just turned off and didnt even give me the thumbs up i really didnt think i would have pulled my bro like i did since his car ran 13.6 w/ pullies and gears. since then he got the headers, cai, and shift kit, i think his car is around mid to low 13's. the stang was prolly stock except for an exhaust cuz it sounded loud when he downshifted and floored it. i just have to say that this 3000 stall is the best mod i have for my car, plus i just tell everyone its stock except for the cutout i really want to get my car to the track to see what it runs now that i got the stall.

i bought a Hughes 3000 stall for $565 w/ a Derale trans cooler thrown in. its a great mod for the money but im not going back to the track till i get LT's, 3.73's, PCM4less chip, and ET streets. im hoping for high 12's with that setup before i go into a heads/cam setup sometime before spring.

free mods, 3000 stall, need MAC-mids!
14.3@97 before stall
hoping for mid 13's w/ stall QUOTE]

Man, those are some slow times for that many mods. Must be nasty racing conditions down there. I trapped 96 mph with my Stang before the last round of mods at 4000' elevation in who knows what kind of density altitude.

14.3's@97 is about right for a intake/exhaust LT1 without traction. the weather and track conditions suck, its always 83*/85% so its always real muggy. with the stall i should dip into the mid to high 13's for sure on et streets.

I can easily see the 14.3 w/o traction, but the mph seems low for the mods.

i totally agree that my traps are kinda low, im thinking its the small miss on the top end. i changed plugs/wires which helped out my mph, i went from 14.7@93 to a 14.3@97 in similar conditions. that miss is do to my opti which is still original, egr, and the o2's. im going to change all this when i get my LT's in a few weeks, so that should gain me the lost mph plus a little more with the LT's. just for comparison my old 94 t/a with same mods went 13.8@99 in same summer weather, so yeah i know im lacking some mph.

That humidity will kill your mph. That's one thing we don't have to deal with in the Southwest, Steve. The 115* heat doesn't help out here though. Run the car in the dead of winter and you will see much better times.
