He will need a LOT more than a cat back to keep up with you, no matter if it is an 84, 87, whatever. You will beat him unless he is not telling the truth. I say you by two bus length.

If it is an 84 (Cross Fire) you will kill him all over. 87 will be a different story down low. If you race him light to light, you might be in trouble. On about a 30-40 mph roll, you will beat him. Not by "bus lengths" though.

The only thing I found on the internet regarding times was in the mid 14 second range at about 97 mph.

93Z wins...

The early C4s started with 205HP Crossfire, went to 220HP TPI in '85 and ended with 250HP TPI in '89-'91. The '92+ reg. C4 vettes had LT1.
If he has'nt changed the wheels yet the early '84-'86 cars had a 16" wheel with a solid center area design. The '87-'90 had an weird spiderweb like blade design.

It is called sarcasm. Say it with me BlackHatch, sarcasm. The 93 will win hands down. Oh and even if it is an 87+, I don't see it being that close light to light. TPI, granted does have good low end, but so does the LT1. 93z > 80's vette.
I guess a "race" form light to light means up to 30-40mph because

. Farc, I guess all I can say is be careful if he wants to race to 30-40mph, he will beat YOU by buslengths. Just go race and see just how close it is, or isn't for that matter. Good luck.

Well I have a trouble to star from dead stop, my Z used to break loose even at 10 20 mph in firt gear, my tires a michelin 245/50/16 and are at 18 to 25 Psi to be more stick because when were at 35 this was crazy and a lot of fun this cars are so fun even in 2 gear break loose for a couple of sec. and print 2 Great black marks.
My Z have the engine compression at ~ 300 Psi l think the last owner up the comp l only can use 95 oct gas and the temp rise very fast.
I forget to mention that.

Sarcasm...hum. Not familiar with that. On a separate note, my point about stoplight to stoplight was merely making provisions for the auto vs. stick driving and the inherent advantage to a decent driver with an auto vs. a decent drive with a stick.

Very true a 6spd can be a blessing or a curse, depending on who's hands it is in. An auto is more forgiving and user friendly, especially on the launch. I can see your piont, and agree . The 93z we both agree whould run it down, as speeds grow, and as the advantage shifts toward the 6spd.
