93 Firehawk vs 06 GTO.

All
I tied up with a 06 GTO. I have a 93 LT1 firehawk M6 with Mac midlengths and tune. Not sure what was done to the LS2 GTO. We went from a dig. I pulled a length and kept that way until about 80mph then creeped ahead another 1/2 length. Stayed a length and 1/2 to about 100 then shut her down. I was waiting for the LS2 pull but it never happened. He gave me the thumbs up and then said lets do it again. The second race was the same outcome. I am guessing the GTO was stock.

good kill....i think the power/weight ratio was in your favor. a tuned healthy LT4 is not that far behind in power from a stock LS2.

OP has an Lt1 not an Lt4 unless it is noted in his sig that I cannot see on my phone. Lt1 with bolt ons will be plenty to even up the odds...... does sound like a not so good driver in the goat either way sweet kill

OP does not have a sig and only has one bolt-on (mid-length headers). 06 goats run anywhere from a very high 12 to mid 13's @ 107 depending on the transmission and driver skill. M6 LT1 with mid-lengh headers is likely a mid 13 @ 103 car give or take.

I'd say they would be even in the first few gears but the LS2 goat should have been able to pull away cleanly after 80 mph. But anything can happen on the street and driver skill is by no means an exact science.

Good kills on the GTO!

Yea I know about the LS2 pull on the upper midrange and was suprised it was not there. LS2 and LS1's are much stronger than the LT1 on the upper midrange and topend for sure stock for stock. You know I have seen some LS2 GTO's run low low 13's and then some LS2's M6's run high 13's to low 14's at Atlanta dragway. Got to be in the driver.
Either way a win is a win and I will take it.

It's almost always a bad driver, bad tune, lack of traction or any combonation of the above.

Aww come on. You gotta say it like Vin Deisel.......

"Ask any racer, any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winnings winning!

Again, great kill on the goat!

Hate to be that guy but w/ the right driver the race wouldn't have been that close, especially in the higher RPMs.
