Re: 87 supra turbo toasted!!!!

Hey I know the thread is a few days old but my friend has a 91 MKIII and alls hes running on the stock turbo is 14lbs of boost, has a filter, tuning, and full exhaust and sunday he ran 13.5@103 at desto. He dynoed saturday and put down 300hp/355ftlbs. Those cars are no joke. We couldnt believe the torque #'s!!!!!! Sounds sweet too.

7mgte (stock motor) is known for having bigger TQ than HP. my friend put down a little over 330 on an upgraded turbo at mild boost, but almost 400tq. they sound great too

Yeah we were amazed and I was also ashamed that my friend is putting down more torque than my LT1. His name is Tissimo on supraforums if you ever go on there. My other friend is doing a 1JZ swap for his 87.

Re: 87 supra turbo toasted!!!!

The MKIII Supra stock ran a 15.2 nothing impressive by any means. On the other hand with some minor mods they can get it to the 13's and with a CT26 upgrade (bigger wheel) it can get in the low 13's high 12's. (Lower with slicks of course)

MKIII is the under dog which is what I like

Funny thing is that I have a few cars to race out here but seems to be noone around when I wanna race. I raced a few mustangs bikes and stuff..

I did race one time with my buddy (one of the mods on this board) and he has a Camaro. He wrote this: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ighlight=duane

In an MKIII I might add.

PS: This is about the love of cars and that is cool in itself right !!

Re: 87 supra turbo toasted!!!!

Mk3s could go high 14s in good shape. Depends on the year and options. They can really move on a roll.
For their time only the C4 Vette,Turbo Regals,Turbo Trans Am and lightweight 308 geared 5.0s could outrun them in their prime(87-89). No other Japanese car sans a turbo 2 RX7 could. By 1990 the 300ZX TT could outrun it and then the VR4/Steath in 1991.

Re: 87 supra turbo toasted!!!!

Actually that MK3 tested in the Motor Trend article was preproduction car and tested in 90 degree heat.
Here is a C and D test of a production car:

A later article with a 14.7 at 95MPH trap time in an automatic:

You can view more reading here if you are curious:

Regardless good kill on the Supra!
