Oh, and btw, with those 60's, I would have kept up with ya
Well those 60's are on a modded car. Stock I dont think it would be so bad. You try runnin this thing on some GENERIC Remington street tires. I mean the name Remington should give away how sh*tty they are! Notice the damn near 13.0 on a 2.155 60? Let me put some DR's on it and drop .2 off that 60'. Would ya keep up then? Dont think so. And I doubt a stock 5.0 can get to 108 MPH in a 1/4 mile.

I hope I dont come across as ragging on your, or singling you out. I picked you to reply to though, so that's all that matters
13.9 BONE stock is a little unbelieveable. I am in no way calling you a lier, but I'd have to see that in person to believe.

Well, I was running 2.0's consistantly with crappy 225 width dunlops. And dont think that nittos are easy to drive either. You still have to feather the clutch upon launch to get decent 60's out of them.

I completely agree that you have a faster car. 108 traps are nice.

I never did say that stock 5.0's were going to trap 108 in the 1/4 mile. I did say though, up to 50 I could hang.

As for stock 5.0's dipping into the 13's, its been documented time and again. 5.0 bashing I think has a lot to do with it, i.e. 5.slow.

It's not to say all stock 5.0's are breaking into the 13's. Most well driven, well maintained stock (manual) 87-93 5.0's shouldnt have much of a problem getting low 14's out of them...provided that they have a decent driver.

One thing I never did mention. I would LOVE to own a 93 Cobra. I love the way they look. I dont hate the cars. I am biased, obviously, having owned so many F-Bodies. I do get your point though. I won't lie, I'd probably race a pinto if he provoked me. Like you said, its fun either way it goes.

Ahh, and he finally sees the light

lol, I though am quite unbiased when it comes to cars. I do favor domestics though. Most of the people I hang out with at the local "gut" are camaro guys. It happens to be a gm town...which is why I get so many looks from the opposition. They know what I run, and I know thell kick my *** on the top end (it's happened before).

What I can agree with though, is the risks involved with racing. I normally will only run up to 50-60mph before shutting her down (45mph zones). It give me the advantage, and reduces some of the risks involved. All of the racing I do is spontanious though. I've been called out many...many times by people who want to organize a run. It's just not my cup-o-tea. I just tell them I'm a chicken **** and walk away

They do compared to LS1s. But back in the day they were very fast for little $$.

And how did you do against them? About 10-15 cars back by 100 mph if the LS1 owner could drive. I sure don't enjoy a 10+ carlength a** raping, anybody else?

Yeah, o/r h-pipes don't give hardly any power at all. An off road H-pipe should make at least 10-15 rwhp on a stock 5.0. Don't get me wrong, I like the 5.0 Stangs. I had a '95 and rode in, wrenched on, and raced a few buddies, 5.0s. They are so-so stock and great when modded heavily. But stock for stock with equal drivers the LS1 absolutely rapes the poor little 5.0.

I have to admit..i have heard some NASTY soundin 5.0's ..A buddy of my'n had one that was good for high 10's, he was in "fast fords & mustangs"..something like that..he could get the front wheels about a foot or 2 off the ground..it was sick! Yes, stock for stock, even my LS1 with 2.73's can pull away..but when you figure that you can get them cheap, drop some money into it..and have a badass car, thats what makes american muscle so cool! IMO..
PS-yea..i'll race anyone if they provoke..just to shut them up.

Well, like I said, most of my street encounters are only up to around 60mph or so...so I was able to keep up quite a few times (unless I blew my launch). At the track, I've beaten a few and lost to a few. Believe it or not, I'm usually able to retain some dignity (espically with my current mods) against them at the track. I'll race em on the freeway too...although it gets ugly real quick.

Also, an o/r h-pipe with the stock 2-1/4 inch exhaust and no other mods will not give you 10-15 h/p. Perhaps with some supporting mods, but not stock. Hell, I'd be lucky to get even 20 h/p with my intake. Realistically, with all my mods I'm probably right around 225 h/p.

Overall, you never know what one has done to his car. This all started because I stated my opinion on a stock 5.0, they suck. My opinion. Another guy on here was the one that said they dont like racing them, I said I would. My words were, "I'll take what I can get." So why arent you ragging on the guy who said its disgusting?
Low 15? Try low 14 for a stock well tuned 5spd car. My friends AOD notch ran mid 14's with an AOD and free mods.

It's been happening since 1988. Where is Bob Cosby when you need him.

I've beaten 3 LS-1's before my car was taken off the road for 3 1/2 years (one ran as high as 110 traps, I pulled him hard) when I was only trapping nearly 105 mph with serious problems. 2 cars on the same track at the same time can run much closer than personal bests for each car at different times. I've seen cars trap 10 mph apart run within a few cars of each other on the same run.
