I am driving home to Chicago from Kansas City and its like 3 in the AM. So NOBODY is on the expressway. As I drive past there is a lil ugly blue 5.0 on the on ramp. He gets up next to me after awhile and its a bunch of redneck kids, 3 of em. He floors it and at first I didnt even bother. He slows down and his friends are starring at me like I raped their sister and then started laughing. So I crack the window and throw out the cigarette and give em a rev. So the guys in the car start laughing harder. Now I'm pissed! He punches it and I throw it into 3rd and catch up and sit next to him pumping the gas and then gun it and beat his ***. He tried again and I beat the SH*T out of him again, badly, very badly, by like a airport runway length! AGAIN he pulls up next to me, no one is laughing, but starring again. I just set the cruise back to 75 and let them drive by. I hadnt laughed that hard in awhile. I figured someone in a 5.0 trying to race an LS1 would have more done than that.....

 

5.0s are big POSs. Why does your car have salad shooters on it though? Those have got to go!

 

Ya know what? I have NO clue why it has salad shooters on it, and yes your right they must go. I am getting some 16" ZR1's from Timberwolf for $240 shipped. Its cheap and fast replacement of sh*tty rims.

And 5.0s suck stock, real bad.


EDIT: Not ZR1 rims, just the stock 99 Z28 ones, they resemble ZR1's in my eyes.

Everyone here wants to race all the time. It's disgusting, really.
It causes all kinds of insanity, such as people flying up to red lights, people trying to pass to be first at a red light, left lane bandits, weaving, etc., etc.
When you have a 4 cyl. rusted out fox body mustang try to race you, now that's funny. At least the 5.0 could have had a chance if it had some money into it.
The races where they're a whole lot slower are always the best, cause when they try to do their fly-by you just floor it again. They usually won't look at you after that.

 

Minus the track, thats one of few races I've seen in forever, i take what i can get.

You sound a bit cocky yourself, not to be rude. I've raced several ls1's when I was stock. If you think that cars have to be modded to enjoy a friendly street encounter, you need to rethink your logic.

 

Dude! i think its a NC thing..i live by raleigh, and i ALWAYS have these yo-yo's trying to race me..your rite, everyone here wants to race..I get nerdy guys trying to race me in there mini coopers and stuff..its horrible. I get like, these rednecks in there old rusted out pick-me-up trucks with no mufflers revving at me all the time. There's also alot of rich guys trying to race in there acura's and crap. Its just horrible.

 

i am sandwiched between the crackheads with their 1970's datsuns and the yuppie jaguars and other overpriced crap all try to race just about any camaro and mustang. although i have seen a porsche cayenne whoop a iroc.

 

OK your right. Let me rephrase. 5.0's are older cars and compared to a newer, better LS1's technology they are pointless to race stock for stock. I'll give credit where its do and say a modded 5.0 can kick some serious ***.

 

I'm just curious though. Pointless how? I would have given you a decent run stock up to around 50 mph or so.

Are you saying because your quicker, have better technology etc. that it would not be a fun race? If it werent for some of us slower guys, you'd have nothing to brag about beating...really.

What I'm basically getting at is, just because a car is slower, doesnt mean that the are a unworthy advisary. If a car I know is slower than me rev's at a light, I'm not going to ignore it and think it's inferior.

If a stock Honda Civic pulled up to a light next to me, I wouldn't bother. Whats the point? Just to say i beat him and my car is faster? Its not worth the risk. Now if some loud 5.0 pulled up next to me and I knew he had some stuff down, sure I'll try it out. But if a BONE stock 5.0 came up next to me, which, by the way would not keep up until 50, I still race him because its a Mustang

Anyway man I'm not here to offend people, but we ALL know what would happen stock for stock. Its like watching the same movie everyday, you already know the outcome but you still watch it.

 

Slower is one thing, but rediculously slower is another. Whats a stock 5.0 run in the 1/4 mile? A low 15, high 14?

Overall, you never know what one has done to his car. This all started because I stated my opinion on a stock 5.0, they suck. My opinion. Another guy on here was the one that said they dont like racing them, I said I would. My words were, "I'll take what I can get." So why arent you ragging on the guy who said its disgusting?

 

I guess you and I see it differently. You have the "I'm to good for you attitude", while I have the "lets see what you've got" attitude.

Oh, and btw, with those 60's, I would have kept up with ya

 

13.9 with a o/r h-pipe...which incedentally gave me virtually no h/p or torque gains whatsoever, it was needed to replace my stock pos one.
