3 mustangs bite the dust

well I made my trip to the drags friday night. Just finished up my header install earlier this week. Last few times I've been to the drags the competition was... well not good. or too good. I beat a 17 second ranger twice last time! then got smoked by a 12.0 second regal turbo. but this time there were mustangs to be beaten!
1st run I beat a '99 style cobra (not an 03-04) by a pretty large margin.
2nd run I beat a '99-up style GT by a little more than the previous run.
3rd run I got lined up against a 5.0 with slicks and alot of work done. I skipped the water since i just have sumitomos on and lined up while he did a massive 10 second burnout and flew by the staging lights. he backed up and got in place. As soon as the lights are green I'm out of the hole and waaaay too far ahead for him to even think about catching me. and the gap continues to grow

then my victories came to an end when I was lined up against a HEAVILY modified 69 mach 1. he cut a 1.7 60' time and ran a 13.6 at like 98 or 99 to my 13.8 @ 102. No shame in losing to such a cool car though. that mach 1 sounded really mean though. I figured it would have ran a bit better and i was happy I ran it so close.

it was such a fun night! about 6 months ago I made my drag racing debut at a best of 14.8 @ 93 and now im a full second quicker and 9 mph faster. went from one of the slowest to one of the faster

I also let my buddy drive who normally drives an '85 ford ranger. he ran a 14.7 at 101 (bet you can't guess what he did off the line.) then when I told him how to launch it he pulled out a 14.1 @ 101. I think he beat a chevy truck and a base model supra.

good times

Thats cool. I can't wait to go to the track for the first time, I'm only 18 (not the reason) and the track is WAY far away from where i live. The times in my sig are from the previous owner, but i have the time slips. I expect that if i can drive as good as he can or better, than with the Headers that are getting installed this week i can probably shave a couple tenths. Thats really cool though, i hope i have as much fun as that sounds when i go to the track.

you've never been!? i'm only 18 as well, but I started drag racing last year. The first time you look over at a car that would seem to be very fast from appearance and sound, and you expect to lose. But when you pull away right off the line and watch as they get smaller and smaller in your mirror, it'll be a little hard to walk when you get out of the car.

A 13.9 sounds way more believable to me.

Hey dude i've never done it, i've never been there... but i have timeslips with all that info on them... for a '94 Camaro Z28.

Wether or not it was my car, i don't know... But i'll find out soon enough. All i know for sure is that its strong as all hell and is alot faster than stock. My friend Chris has a stock 96Z with appearance mods and nothing else and i easily pull at least 5 cars on him in way under a quarter.

But in all fairness since i never did run these times MYSELF i'll take them out of my sig.

See?

Gotta agree. My vette with his same mods plus shorties, roller rockers, all the freebies and no cats ran a best of 107.7 mph. Maybe there's more mods you don't know about?

Heh i'm pretty sure I would know if i had other mods... It's more likely that the slips are for a different Z28.
