2000-2002 style. I was running errands and ran into this guy in a maxima with at least exhaust. He started pacing me and I figured I'd see what he had. I was on 87 octane with a 91 tune... stupid I know. I kept hitting stall wall or letting WAY off the gas to get a shift and still put a car or so on him up to only about 40mph. I figured if I had my new tune in and was able to go WOT and with 91 octane gas or if we'd even gone longer than a 5 second sprint I'd have mopped the floor with him. He was cool about it and I was too, he got next to me and said "not bad for a 6" and I just smiled and nodded. I so desperately wished I could tell him but I figured I'd sound like one of those guys that say things like "this isn't my car" or "my faster car is at home" or I have a lambo at home or whatever. I was a good sport, and let him think poorly about my little LT1. He probably went on to tell everyone how slow my car was. Oh well. I still won. By the way, this was my first race since i was stock!

 

Those 3.5 Maximas can be made to be pretty fast especially in the high RPMs.

 

I've waxed plenty of them. In fact, I forgot to make a good kill post on my most recent one. I even slowed down so he'd catch up, I dropped two gears then proceeded to go until hitting about 140 and shutting down. With him being miles behind

But to the oirinal poster, that's why I wont race unless my car is running 100%. It makes people think they did better than they really should have.
I once raced an LS1. He was going northbound, I was headed south. We were in my neighboorhood, and as we passed, at the same time we clutched-in and gave a rev. I looked in my rearview, and saw him turning around. Long story short, he caught up down the road on a big road and we raced. He beat me by about a car or two. I told him to meet me at autozone coming up.
After meeting, he learned I was only on 7cylinders, and I showed him the burned up plug. He was amazed. Damn now you guys got me going here.. after work I'm gonna have to make a few kill stories
