pretty soon i no im going to be racing some kid in his 240sx which he thinks is god. It has a SR20 engine turbo+intercool. Im pretty sure he would take me but are curious on your guys opinion. thanks

 

I raced with one with 10 pounds of boost it eas not even close i left him then he started telling me how he didnt down shift i told joke is on you buddy I have one 2 91 like yours then he starts to go on and on he could boosted more and yadayada If there at 300 horspower range they will give you a good race...

It was probably modded ****ty anyways, like most ricer cars are. It's probably got an aftermarket bolt on kit with like 6-8 psi. Run him and see, but I wouldnt be too nervous? You do have a thing called torque. His powerband is very peaky, a 5.7L V8, much broader, much torquier.

 

Probably not actually. The SR20 can be bought for cheap and it fits right in. Most guys that actually have a turbo 240s have an SR.

i thought the sr20 motors were like $10k. maybe it was the k20 motor? all i know is that any engine with a turbo can eventually be fast.

 

theres a club out here with sr20s in there 240s.... alot of people have raced these kids and i guess there 0-60 they hung with em then the 240s usually pulled massively on them... IDK why Massive boost?

 

Thats true ... I guess a 240 does pull in a totally different crowd than the typical VTEC junkies.

 

well i no the sr20 has a base hp of 141 i beleive, and i no hes running 15 PSI and the rule on a turbo is 10 hp for every PSI so even if hes running 310 HP i have around the same thing and my poweband is way broader then his....

 

I'm pretty sure that the weakest of the SR20DET motors had 205 hp and the most powerful was around 250 hp. You might be thinking about the SR20DE which I believe did not have a turbo.

 

i talked to his friend and his engine only has 136 hp stock..he added the turbo on so.Ill keep you guys posted on the race....well said tainted

 

You can expect him to have double that horsepower, or real close to it.

Every 1 PSI of boost, IS NOT roughly 10 horsepower.

1PSI on a 350 is going to make way more power than 1 PSI is on a 2.0L

A better rule of thumb is that for every 8-10 PSI, you can expect about a 50% increase in power.

 

The stock SR20DET motor did have approximately 205 hp stock. How fast he is really depends all on what kind of turbo he has. They can be fast since they are sub-3,000 pounds with the right setup.

Race him from a dig. Then if you walk his *** bad race him from a roll.
