I was coming home from school last week in the carpool line with is 2 lanes walled of from the freeway. It was friday which is important because on firdays everyone and i do mean everyone drives like a bat out of hell to get home down here in sothern california. So I am going along at about 85 in the car pool line weaving in and out of traffic to get to the front of the pack so that I could go faster when i realize that a a mercedes is following my every move. We make it to the front of the pack as we get to the slight grade where you can see the bottom of the hill (to check for coppers) and he starts gaining on me so i drop it in to good ol 5th gear and floor it so we are going 125+ and then we get of the freeway and he follows and we continue our fun on surface streets. Till we both get stoped at a red. I was like yes my frist real race in like 2 months. He had his windows down as did i. So i asking you want to go after some chit chat. He says "are you sure you want to do that?" I was like "oh yea". So we both gun it on green i spun my tires a bit of the line and he was like 2 cars ahead at about 60 and i was keeping up after my start. The next light was red but i think i was gaining on him. But over all a fun rase considering he has over 100 horses on me. Do you think i could have taken him with a better start. I got 285 gs-d3s on the back. With a few free mods and exhaust and air box. With some decent shifting?

 

No I don't think you would have beat him. Those things have around 550-600hp, they are freakin nuts. Has anyone seen the video with the modded 03' against an AMG on drag radials, its ugly. The AMG puts about 3-4 cars on the cobra. I didn't know these cars where this fast untill recently.

 

Not only that, but even youre grandma could take it to the track and run a mid 12 second pass with it. From what I gather from magazines all thats really required to launch the car is youre right foot to the floor. It has an excellent traction control system that controls wheelspin for near perfect launches everytime. I think the only chevy that could possibly take one stock would be a Z06 (assuming the guy knew how to launch and shift).

 

Theres a video of one beating a 03 Cobra like 4 damn times over and over again.

 

Wether or not he beat the E55 depends on what model year it was. I'm a Mercedes tech so I've driven every different AMG model. The older E55s (210 chassis) only had 350hp and accelerated about the same as a stock LS1 f-body. The new 211 chassis has the 470hp engine. Thtas alot harder to beat.

 

My thoughts exactly. There is no way he would have kept up with a new one.

 

They are high 12s 115-117mph cars.. so... better slap in a 427 on there

i dont know if it was a e55, but their is a video floating around here where the ls1, or lt1, ( i dont remember) running 12.3 vs the mercedes 12.7, yeah im sure he was probably juicing it.

It was the E55. He has currently run a best of 11.98 and is still bone stock on street tires.

And yes, I was squeezing...up until the 1000'.

you shoulda got your *** handed to you. Must have been a 354 hp variety. I can't even hang with a supercharged one with my cam. You would need my mods, ported heads and LTs for any hope at all. SUCKS

 

If the cobra is stock, all it needs is probably $300 in mods to beat that Benz handily. If I paid that kind of money for a car, that Benz had better be able to beat alot of stuff. Either way, I have a hard time justifying that any car is worth 80k+ IMO.
