2000 v6 vs 2 pre 99 GTs.

Raced at the track.

this was last friday at the track

My car
2000 3.8L v6 5-speed 40,500 miles on it
mods
-unhooked exhaust
-descreend MAF
-open TB(no airbox)
-removed jack and spare
-hurst shifter
-then soem plugs and wires.
-facotry tires(eagle GAs 235/55/16) with about 37,000 miles on them

1st guy

I got him at the light, he ended up with a 2.5 60' I pulled on him from the line and put lengths on him to the finish line. His car had to have been sick, but he trapped like 88 mph is that really that far off form a basic bolt on pre 99 GT?

Next GT was a closer race.

he redlighted .461 to my .691 he spun the launch, my launch was pretty crappy too but not a total loss. I was by his rear wheel, but each gearshift on my end I gained little ground then up top it was like his car just ran out of steam I started pulling harder and harder, and I crossed the finish line with him about half a car behind my bumper.

Was a fun race. I seem to be in a class of where I get smoked or I don't even see the other guy I beat him so bad. ITs alwasy fun to have the guy at your door. Also felt good to catch up on someone that got the jump and run him down.

Later on my last run I pulled the belt. I was up against a Integra. I didn't care about the race just wanted to get a good launch, so didn't pay much attention to the lights, more my launch I had a 1.588 r/t to his .622, I spun a little to a 2.238 60' and ran the guy down and put a few lengnths on him down the track.

crappy weather, crappy prep, but I was getting better 60's with my bald eagle gas then my good 275 kuhmos

Sounded like fun runs, and some nice kills. It's gotta suck being beaten by another N/A car with 2 fewer cylinders though I agree with running to the lights... winning is nice, but running head to head to the line is really exciting, no matter who wins

Good kills! Those pre '99 GTs are pretty sad for the displacement. They usually run high 14s to low 15s at 92ish bone stock with a 5-speed.
