2 VERY rare kills WORTH THE READ!

Well guys, this is one of those times where it might never happen again! This was worth driving 20 miles to gratiot to cruise. I got to race a Supra and a SRT10 at the same time Heres the story.

I'm pulling out of the gas station, and my buddy is in the car with me. Hes a big import guy because hes an engineer so he likes them because they are "Engineered better" so... This supra goes by going south on gratiot towards eastpointe. I promptly hop out and give chase. We pull up next to the guy in the supra, ask him what he has done and what not, he mentions his boost controller, stock twins, he had exhaust and an intake. So I'm like ok I'll give it a go. First race with the supra was from a 40 roll. I was at 3400 in 2nd gear 3 honk and were off. I pull 2 cars reallly quick then shift third and pull stopped. shut down at about 100 with a 1 1/2 car lead. 2nd race with the supra, from a dig. I put her up to 2500 and wait, light drops, i roll the clutch and come into the gas, good launch with a little bit of wheelspin. I pull 2nd and take it to 5750, then i pulled third and looked back. The supra was 4 cars back ! I was ****ting myself. shut down at 110 with a 4 car lead!! Then the third race, we go from a 30 roll. I was in first (i know im dumb) and he honks 3 times and he just walks me, whoops me by 2 cars up to 110 from a 30 roll... I beat him at a 40 roll he beats me at 30 thats wierd. lol anyway we stop at a light and talk, we say nice cars and what not, and my buddy is nuttin in his seat. Then we go to make a michigan left, were at about 6 mile and gratiot lol cuz we went for lik 4 miles racing. We start heading up we hit 9 mile and gratiot, this nice black truck rolls up next to me and the supra, i look over.. SRT10 in chrome right there in my FACE. I **** myself how could this happen?! SRT10 and a SUPRA with my lil ol camaro in the middle! we went from a 40 roll 3 way race. 3 honks and I pulled about a nose on the truck, and about a car on the supra, shifted to third and the truck started to slow, so i had about a car on the truck all the way up to 100 and about 1 1/2 cars on the supra all the way up to 100... Then we didnt race the truck again he just kept doing the best burnouts ever lol it was just sweet. I was contemplating on selling my Ls1 for a newer car with a warranty (SRT4) but now I'll never get rid of it. Shes strong as hell and I love her. I have pictures of the supra and SRT10 that will be going on my buddys website, when they are loaded I'll throw upa link also have a cell fone vid of the supra and me which is kinda cool. But all in all that was a night to remember, and probably will never happen again!

Awesome kill man. But I gotta wonder if the Supra guy was bull****ting about his mods. Either that or the dude can't drive. But either way good job letting them all know that chevy run's the show

I raced a Supra very similar to the one described (BPU) from 40 to about 80 I pulled maybe a car and then about 90ish he passed me like a freight train.

From a roll Supras tend to take a little bit to spool (especially the autos from my understanding)

But I think past 100 the Supra would have pulled harder

Nice kills though....the SRT-4's are okay, Dodge built a solid driveline and engine for them....the rest of the car is typical cheap plastic bits....but with a 2.4L motor and a small turbo boost is instant and makes 0-30 alot of fun and with a few simple free mods they can hang with EVO's/STi's

Our local 900whp Supra is a beast from a roll but the turbo takes time to spool....NA cars may pull just a little because of response but usaully once the turbo spools....freight train action at its best

Uhhh...he's talking about SRT10, not SRT-4. BIG difference. As in 500 horse/500 torque in a shortbed pickup difference.

We have a local Viper powered Dakota....not very impressive...but maybe it needs a driver

I think the SRT-10's are a little over priced but hey I am sure there are plenty of guys willing to pay for them right...

I think turboing the 4.3L? V8 Dakota would make more sense but different strokes

The SRT-10 is the fastest stock truck out there for the moment until ford comes out with the 2005 Lighting

That does make more sense to me! It is a 4.7 liter V8 for the record.

Yes, but it costs a lot more than the L and does not mod as easily or cheaply. Sure you can throw nitrous at the SRT-10 but as soon as the bottle runs dry................ With the L you can change the pulleys, chip, maf, etc and have killer power ALL the time.

No offense, but I find it real hard to believe you are getting up to 100-110 mph on gratiot.I guess its possible, but insane too.

Good point Steve, but for the record the aftermarket should pick up in awhile.

Probably not. My buddies Supra had Greddy intake, hardpipes, aftermarket intercooler and 3" exhaust, as well as a Tanabe downpipe. He didn't have a boost controller, but when I was running mid 8's at about 84mph I would pull a car and a half on him on the interstate and hold it. Then when I got the car tuned I would pull a car and a half and creep away. It also helped that the Supra is an auto. Until you put a boost cut controller on those things and bump them up to about 18+psi on the stock twins then they aren't as fast as everyone makes them out to be.

down on gratiot, we got going 110 down past eastpointe, in detroit. I dont really like going that fast, i set my max at 80 but how many times do you get to race a supra, and a SRT10? And... the guy in the supra was like 40ish he had the stock twins, exhaust, boost controller, and an intake. The car is fast, its a drivers race from a roll, but from a dig theres no contest. I want a supra tho

They made auto supras?

I thought they only made a 6-speed... but maybe that's just the later body style.

You could get the latest Supras with an auto, including Gods child, the TT version.
