05' Mustang goes down at the strip

Ran a brand new GT at South Georgia Motorsports Park (cecil) today. Sharp car, white, factory stock 5(6?)speed manual. I talked to him after, it was his best run of the night, and my worst of the night. He was a great driver.

He ran

60' - 1.877 (on STOCK tires!)
1/8 - 8.520
1/8 MPH - 81.11
1/4 - 13.35
1/4 MPH - 101.58

to my

60' - 1.751
1/8 - 7.968
1/8 MPH - 88.02
1/4 - 12.495
1/4 MPH - 108.27

My best run of the night is in sig. Had fun, Need to put in the 4.11s I have sitting in my bedroom, stock gears are absolutely murdering my times with the big cam. Looking for 11s after XMas

Nice times. Is the 05' Mustang the one that looks retro? If so, I've seen 2 of them already on the roads.

How do you like that track? Have you raced at Silver Dollar (Reynolds) to compare the two?

Time for me to make some mods to fend off the 05 Mustangs I guess...

The stock rims on the GT were 17s, nor sure if the tires were 245s or 275s though, but the track was hooking well. I was dead hooking on the ET street radials (damn stock gears) and couldnt come out the hole any harder

John M: SGMP is the nicest track in GA I've been to. Much better then reynolds IMO, it's a brand new facility, nice pavement, good location, etc. Closest track to here (tallahassee, FL) so we make the drive there to race.

Thats the best 05 time ive seen to date...looks more like a turbo 4 cyclinder time rather then a v8 w/ that hurtin trap speed

I'm not sure I belive that. Not calling you a liar or anything. Are you sure that isn't a typo? The absolute best I saw in a magazine was 13.6@102 (C&D i think), and most were in the very high 13s. These are professional drivers keep in mind. How could this guy cut another 3 tenths off? Seems a bit fishy. Maybe he was modded and didn't tell you. Good kill though.

Would you like a video or a picture of the timeslip? DA was 115.

There has been some 13.4's and 13.3's reported. There was a tuner in NJ benchmarking the 05 and ran 3 passes in the 13.4's.

101 mph is LT1 territory though. A stock LS1 would have been flying past that at the end of the track. However, the '05 GTs seem to get out of the hole very well. I have seen a few 1.8x - 1.9x 60's on stock tires from those cars. I'll still take my bone stock 106-107 trap speed over the '05 GTs 101-103. Makes for a more fun, faster car on the street.
