03 Lightning friend a Altima 3.5 SE

Some dude was pacing me this morning on the way to work and I am thinking to myself, "who is the assclown and he must think he has something fast"...

Then I slow down a little to see what it was and it was an Altima 3.5SE, and from what I have read lately about the "mad" top end, I was curious how it would do against my Lightning..so I match his pace...which was 50 mph in a 65. I get next to him, he was obviously waiting for me because all he was doing was looking at me when I got next to him. We both gunned it and I got out of it around 110 I was probably a good 4-5 cars on him.

His car ran ok for a family car. I just thought it would have done better after reading about how strong they are supposed to be on the top end. Could have been the driver, who knows.

True the truck is heavy, but you're comparing a vehicle with an underated 390hp that run mid 13s to a vehicle that had 245hp that will do mid/high 14s.

Well over 150hp more, designed from the get-go for accelerating quick, a.k.a dragracing, and a SC, it's much better equiped to race than an Alty.

Why compare apples to oranges? Of course your truck would win.....and??

It is hard to hide that I am driving a Lightning..they sorta of stand out and being my plate says...STRK U DN....that might mean something.

And actually my truck put down 361/442, so yes, underrated just a little, but should I have let this clown think he can take me because I know I would smoke him?

This is called a kill story...not a apples to apples...oranges to oranges story forum...so get your panties out of a bind.

Yes it is a kill forum, and no my panties (how did you know I wear panties?) are not in a bind.

But if I raced a mo-ped, would I come on here and post about it? Nope...

If racing slower cars that you know you can beat creams your twinkie, then more power to you.

Good kill....

Because I figure most men do wear them...I mean not me...at least during weekdays...ahem...

I know what your saying..but I read post the other day talking about how strong the top end was with the Altima 3.5SE's and obviously the guy driving this Altima thought the his car was just gonna lay some smack.

I personally thought it would have done better.

I just thought I would share my experience with my fellow board members.

Well I'm the only one whos been talking about Alty 3.5s on here lately, mainly because I bought one and have been doing some research. So you probably ran across one of my threads.

Just to clarify, my words were "They have good top end for what they are". But I'll be the first to admit they're no racecar. "What they are" meaning 4dr family cars.

I never said they had "mad" top end, or anything to the effect that they could hang with .5% of the cars on this forum, for that matter.

The 3.5s DO run good for what they are. However, they can't (and weren't designed to) compete with any sports car made in the last several years.

But with mods they can be a somewhat potent sleeper on the street to later model sports/muscle cars...

Yea I was reading a forum with someone that had the dyno numbers on the Alt with bolt ons. I think it ran low 14's? Pretty sad I think, I hate to say it but I like the new Accords more.

Yea, that was pretty sad. All driver there. There are guys who have been as fast as 14.2 with a stock 3.5. So...

So if you beat a Mustang you are not going to post it? It's not like he raced a Hyundai, he raced a decently quick car that challenged him.

Might as well been a Hyundai. If a '03 Cobra beat a stock LT1, why post it? If a Viper beat a stock LS1, why post it? If a GT Mustang beat a stock Honda Civic, why post it?

He has a "race truck" and he ran a stupid guy in a family car, why post it????

Because the family car challenged him and who knows what it had done...It could have just been a guy with an atittude that he had to put in his place. I enjoyed it personally so. It doesn't matter to me what anyone else thinks.

It's mostly just the fact that you got to race someone. All we read is that this car raced that car and whichever one won. We dont actually get to experience the feeling of winning or losing in a race. And even when you beat a slower car it's still an awesome feeling.
