03 cobra loses to LS1

Ok, so my friend was telling me that he beat this guy in a cobra twice from a roll. The cobra only have and x-pipe and catback and 315 nittos in the back. The LS1 only has a lid. Now they are both friends too, so this was a friendly race and they both know what they both have. The cobra lost twice though, btw...the LS1 is auto. I dont know what happened to the cobra. I didnt know that they were that slow from a roll. This guy in the LS1, i have beaten a few times from any roll. Now thats saying that I could romp on this cobra from a roll too. I wanna race him to find out for sure, but the kid in the cobra is a little scared to race now considering he just lost 300 bucks to a different LS1 from a dig haha! Tell me your thoughts and imputs on this, thanks!

Clogged cats? They have been known to have an issue with clogging the cats and being way down on power.

Something was wrong with that Cobra then. There is no way a stock LS1 would beat a 03 Cobra from a roll if everything was working properly!

Maybe the guy in the Cobra didnt floor it.

Those things are fast and can beat a stock LS1 pretty easy. (assuming they both can drive good)

The stock cobra exhaust does have cats.

Maybe the guy in the Cobra didnt floor it.
Maybe he didn't know how to drive it. The 03 cobras have some horrendous wheel hop.

What kind of mods do you guys do on your engines? What's the lid? Don't know too much about the LS1 / LT1 engines

Thumbs up

Could have happened, but a well driven, bone stock Cobra is going to walk both the A4 LS1 and the LT1 car.
There is no accounting for a bad driver. I've put 9 passes on my car in two trips to the track. Even with the TC on, it ran a 13.2@109mph hot off a 60 mile drive to the track, no cooldown, full weight, bone stock, stock F1's.

Not all Cobras have wheelhop issues. It depends on the car, the driver and the conditions.

I think it must have been driver error on the 03 Cobra guy. Unless the LS1 had a small shot or something.

No shot, im for sure about that. And as for the cats, he has an aftermarket x-pipe so im assuming that he has no cats. Who knows maybe he was just messing around, like i said before they are both friends and go to the same school. Well i was just wondering what ur guys' imput was on this weird event.

I had a messed up cat on my '95 LT-1 once... I would have been lucky to dyno 100hp on a great day with that messed up cat. They really can ruin your day. But when I've found is a lot of these cobra guys haven't quite learned their cars yet--- so what should be running a 12.70 puts down a 13.40, etc.

I agree with Snorman...first bone stock 03Cobra I seen run at the strip ran 13.10's to 13'20's around 109. He has since made a few "small" up grades...11.90's @ 117-120.

With an x-pipe and a cat back the Cobra has to be well over 400 rwhp. Driver error is my guess. I saw an LS-1 pull back to back 12 second 1/8th mile times before where in the hands of a good driver would have been 4 seconds better.

first you said it was a friendly race, then you say the guy lost $300...hmmm

and I am glad the LS-1 won but he shouldn't have if the mods you mentioned are correct...

good kill
