I have an 02 z28 and my friend has an 07 gt and he put on some underdrive pulleys and changed injectors . My car is stock except for a Borla exhaust.He went to Rockingham and ran the quarter in 13.9. I have not taken my car to the track. should I be able to beat him.

 

Also my car is a 6 speed and his is a 5 speed.

You should have him no problem, providing you don't screw up the launch or any shifts .

 

those 07's only run 13.9??? that guy can't drive i would bet. you should eat him up anyway, even if he can drive!

 

If you don't win that you should sell your car and never again associate yourself with this website or anything F-body.

Yeah after they did the Tune and CAI they ran 13.60s..

 

Your '02 has PLENTY of power to beat your friend, just make sure you drive right.

I was at Barnes & Noble and just happened to pick up a Ford mag. that did an article on the new Shelby GT-H (I think) and they raced it and ran a 13.9.

The best part about it was at the track, there was a photo of it parked next to a NBM LS1 T/A and the caption read, "Yes, we got spanked by the LS1 T/A..."

 

the 07 gt's are nothing to write home about. my buddy has one and refuses to race anybody, and any other one i try to hunt down on the road just goes nto ricer mode and weaves thru traffic and turns off all the sudden. yeah my cars more modded than yours but they dont know that. i guess they felt the wrath of a ls1 already

 

I raced an automatic one at the track and he ran 13.50's all day long. Sounded stock and on street tires. With both of you guys being manual its gonna be about who can launch it better.

 

Think about this ...

...during a Solo Sprint event at our local track (Mosport International Speedway) my '02 Z28 was pulling ~220 km/h (~136 mph) up the back stretch, while my instructor's '06 GT was only pulling about ~205 (~127 mph).

We all know that speed = power . And in this case, he was a FAR better driver than me (1 min, 38 secs, vs. 1 min 48 secs) so his driving CLEARLY made up where his car lacked in power!! I'd love to know what my car would do with a good driver and Hoosier racing slicks like his GT had??
