Mine revs happily all the way to 6k. When I floor it it almost touches 6k before dropping back down. Of course I bought it used and I'm not sure exactly what has been done to it.

I wish I could have a run-in with some v-8 mustangs. All I get is these sixers that want to show off in front of me and slow down when I get next to them, like they weren't doing anything. Oh well... racing slower cars keeps me out of trouble I guess, don't have to break the speed limit...

I could see that if he was in 5th gear and left it if your stock.

Something about driving a camaro and not taking it to redline doesn't make any sense to me BTW I've got 136k miles and take it to 6200 rpm often Oh yea, and the horsepower curve is still going up at 6200 also

If you still have the stock cam there is no reason to shift at 6k! The power starts to fall off way before then. Unless you have a larger cam that produces power up to 6k or higher you are better off shifting at 5800 rpms.

No, I have bolt ons. MTI cai, 1le elbow(if you consider it a mod), TB airfoil, Edelbrock Shorty headers w/ O/R y-pipe, borla exhaust, and some slight computer work. His car had a filter, O/R h-pipe and exhaust. We went twice, I gave him the jump the 2nd time but it made no difference. I have no idea where he started at but the owner can attest to my story. For a comparison, Im about even with a stock LS1 on the freeway.

Hes right. My cars power peaked right past 5000rpm but kept making power up until 5800rpm. Which is around where I shift.

I ran a kid I knew in his 94 GT. 5 spd. with CAI and flows. I have a 97 LT1 with edelbrock mids, ory, airfoil, hypertech, flow cat-back and CAI and over 200k on the motor and I put 4 cars on him from a 3rd gear roll easily twice. They video taped it on there little digital camera but I haven't seen them in a few weeks otherwise I would try and get that vid.

I also ran a 2002 Audi S4. Two 25 rolls put 2 cars on him. From a 5 mph roll he jumped out by about 3 cars but I caught and passed him and put two more cars on him. We had this taped to but my buddy left for the army before I could get the vid.
OH well I was there I know what my 200k + LT1 is capable of.

Hey fast , I was kinda wondering what kinda difference you get with 3:73 in a 6 speed over 3:42's . Cause I was thinking a little gear wouldnt hurt , but 410's gave me some serious traction probs in my LT1 ...If you floored it form a roll at 1600 RPM's it would white smoke the tires !!!!! If 3:73's are a lil more tame , I may go with them . If they make a difference .

Actually thats not right. At 5700rpm it would be closer to 115mph. You would have to rev 4th to about 6500 with stock 3:42's to get 130mph.

Hey bud. I never had 3.42s in my car, converted it from A4/2.73s straight to M6/3.73s. However, riding in some of my friend's 3.42 M6s i have noticed a significant difference. 1st gear is pretty much useless without some good tires..... in 1st i can go from an idle roll and gun it, spins stright to redline. Roll from 30mph in 1st turning somewhere over 3k rpm and gunning it does the same thing. You might have better tires than me. Sounds like you'll like 3.73s though

Cruising at 80mph in 6th, it's turning a smidgit under 2k rpm.
