00 GT vs. lt1....sorry

Well on my way to work this morning I happened upon the green z28 that had done a fly-by about three weeks ago on me.

He was just merging onto the highway and must have seen me again as he jumped to the middle lane and quickly caught up to me and the other traffic. I could not see in his car as it was pretty dark tint and the sun was barely cresting the horizon.

After he blipped the throttle and shot out a few times I figured I would give him a run. We both slowed to 48-50 as there was nothing behind us and gave a decent gap to the traffic ahead. He just paced me for about another 1/2 mile or so and I figured he wanted me to jump or honk it off. In all fairness I honked three times and we left. I was in 4th gear and pulled instantly a car. At the top of 4th and into 5th I had about 4 cars total on the guy as we slowed back down. I smiled and gave a nod even though I am not sure he saw me.

He started to slow back down and hit the lights to signal me I guess so I followed his lead and we were off again. The same results ensued and this time the window on his car rolled down just enough to have a hand come out with a thumbs up to which I returned and kept on my way to work.

All and all I am pretty happy with the results as I know quite well what a z28 can do. I know he had a catback on it, looked like a hooker from the tips. Other than that Im assuming he was an auto and stock otherwise. I have raced M6 cars with much closer results(before gears)

My mods thus far are underdrives, plenum, xpipe, LM1 and 4.30s. I am looking this year with the addition of my LTs and DRs and gears to hit 13 flat.

With exhaust and pulleys I hit 13.90@101.78, 2.178 last year.

God I need the weather to clear and the track to open.

Well that is what happened. I took two videos on my phone but I cannot load them up to my computer, I could send them as a text if you would like of my car pulling in each gear. In 4th at 50mph I am at 3000rpms give or take a 50. In 3rd I'm 3900rpms. You have to remember I have a 5 speed.

When in 4th @ 50, I pulled to 60 in about a 1 1/2 seconds. In 3rd @ 50, I hit 70 in about 2 seconds.

I'll try to find the guy as the nice cars are coming out and there are some hotspots where they all hang out.

Greece NY is north of Rochester. I'm about a 1/4 mile from Lake Ontario.

EXXXXxactly....I'm calling BS. You'd get your doors blown off w/ an LT1 if you take off from 4th at 50. You Raced a 3.8L...Hows that make you feel? Probably a mis-badged v6, or an LT1 w/ 2 spark plugs missing.

I'm gonna join in and call Bs on the 4th gear thing...I've seen many geared 5 speed mustangs before...Now i have about as much respect for the LT1 as I do for Richard Simmons, but this is just proposterous...

From experience racing my LT1 M6. At 55mph I got smoked starting from 4th, dropped it into 3rd next time and I pulled away instantly from the start w/ the stock 3.42's in the rear. Given you had high gears...yea maybe you would still pull hard in 4th...but hard enough to take even a stock LT1 that bad? doubtful. What all do you have done?

Was there a tail wind with the 13.9 ET run you had? Either that or the underdrives and exhaust(no headers) gave you 20-25 horse. Not saying those times are impossible, just far far from the ordinary. What does your car top out at. I mean 4th gear at 50mph is geared like a semi truck.

I raced a low 12 sec SRT-4 from 55-100 and he pulled about 4 cars on me. I didnt know he was a low 12 sec car till a saw his car at the track and he was running 12.3's at 109-110 with DR's.

What mph did you let off?

Well any of you are free to come to Rochester NY and take a ride. PM your cell and I will text you the two videos of 3rd and 4th gear pulls.

I have run 13.9 plenty of times. I run at NYIRP which is 900ft and I run at ESTA safety park in Syracuse which is 400ft.

R/T: .096 Pro .400
60': 2.175
330': 5.921
1/8 mile: 9.042 @79.59 MPH
1000': 11.686
1/4 mile: 13.908@100.78 MPH

This was done at NYIRP with a DA of 2947ft.

That was my fastest run and my fastest MPH occured at 101.68.

You mean 4th and 5th gear pulls?

Well you cant say your best run was a 13.9 @101.78, if the ET and trap speed occured on two seperate runs. Or atleast you should specify your best ET, your best trap and your best 60'. unless your 101.78 trap happened on a slightly slower ET but was still a 13.9. Its kinda misleading. But like i said, im not callin BS on the race, im just thinking his car wasnt running right or was just a crappy driver. But usually a roll race substantially reduces the driver factor.

What mph did you let off at and what does your car top out at, or what you would estimate it at?

Your car does not make enough power to pull like you think it does in 4th gear @ 50 mph...you are at what , 1700 rpm?

Mod motors are weak down low...you would be lucky to make 250 rwhp...maybe 280 rwtq and not down low.

Canton, I have 4.30 gears. I am at roughly 3000rpms in 4th gear at 50.

About the runs I recorded on my phone. I took a quick video of a 3rd gear pull and a 4th gear pull to show the comparison. I am not thinking my cars pulls like that, I have video proof and a open invitation to come take a ride.

My 101.68 run was a 13.909. This was at ESTA on a cooler day. It was 79 this day and 94 on the other run.

I have not tried to top out my car since the gears were in. I have taken it to 130 though but I was screaming on the tach with the smell of burning clutch, so I let off.

I meant 2700 rpm...but if you are at 3000 rpm, I know how your platform runs at 3000 rpm...it doesn't.

You ever thought your speedo might be off?
