Z06 Brake conversion pics...
Re: Z06 Brake conversion pics...
How many miles on the new brakes when you took the pics? From the pics it looks like you are using/squeezing only the outer 1-1/2" or so of the rotor with your pad contact.
Re: Z06 Brake conversion pics...
yes thats true. ive only got about 30 miles on them so far. once the pads wear a little it should contact the whole surface.
i got the calipers w/SS brake lines for 75 bucks. they were heavily used on the track. i think the hard braking under high temps may have spread the calipers a bit....but hey, you get what you pay for. ill eventually get new calipers....

Re: Z06 Brake conversion pics...
New calipers are surprisingly inexpensive, as are the brake pads. I've been running the C5 conversion for over a year now and am very happy with the results. I have Bob Bishop's steel brackets. If the LG brackets bolt on using the hub bolts, then it will work with either the LT1 or LS1 spindles - the LT1 spindles will just take more work to get the clearance. Most people just take a cut-off wheel or recipricating saw to the ears and whack them off. I spent some time on my LT1 spindles and ground everything off that wasn't needed. Some pictures are HERE.
Re: Z06 Brake conversion pics...
Gotcha. I thought the LG's used the hub bolts. Baer makes (or at least used to) brackets that will work for the C5 conversion as well, but only use two of the hub bolts instead of all four.
Re: Z06 Brake conversion pics...
damn i cant wait until i do mine. money is always tight having 3 vehicles to pay for, i got the brackets from bob bishop a year ago and finally got big enough wheels last month. just need some rubber for the 17s and i can put those on and go grab the brake parts.
ran into a guy at the track who had the setup looks even better in person when you can look at another car that has the stock setup next to it
