For you guys who have done the LS1 brake conversion.

I had one of the caliper bracket bracket bolts fall out on the right front brake and the caliper fell off. It was still held in place somewhat, im just glad it happened just a few blocks from the house.

I also noticed that the right side had started to loosen.

I replaced all four of these bolts on both sided and red locktighted them in and torqued them to 90#.

Just thought you guys might want to check these on your raide if you have converted your front LT1 brakes to the larger LS1's.

Did you locktight them originally? I think mine should be good, i used the red locktight and tightened them good. I dont have a torque whrech, so how many ft/lbs is tight with a ratchet?

Hopefully it didnt scratch up your wheels, do you have a website for your car?

Mine had also fallen out on me, I bought new bolts after that and never had another problem since.

They aren't supposed to be locktighted I thought. Would really make for some fun when the calipers need to be changed, or you get new pads.

Beause it is such a big bolt it will break free with a breaker bar, Im not worried about that. I wanted the piece of mind of knowing the brakes are not going to fall off again.

There are two kinds of loctite, the red and the blue. One is "permanent" and one is designed to break free when you want it to, but still not vibrate loose. I forget which is which, but I think red is permanent.

Re: For you guys who have done the LS1 brake conversion.

blue loctite prevents the bolt from backing out, it requires around 100lbs-ft to break loose, red loctite is high-heat permanent
it requires something like either 300ft-lbs or 500 degrees heat to break the loctite, something like that,

and incase anyone was wondering, the green loctite, has the same strength as blue, only its penetrating, so u can apply it after u tighten to the bolts
