Wheel Rub????

I am thinking about purchasing a 96 Z and the owner told me that when the wheel is turned, you can hear it making a noise like it is rubbing, anybody know what might cause this?

Hmm... Without seeing it who knows. Got any pics? It could be the tires do you know what size he is running? Has the car been wrecked? Can't think of too much more.

Re: Wheel Rub????

My first though was the tire, but it is the stock size, the car is lowered some though. I meant to ask him if it had ever been wrecked, but forgot. I will ask him and try to get back with the info.

Re: Wheel Rub????

You know, i also have wheel rub on my 94. Is it on the right front wheel? (obviously the front) And mine also makes clicking noises when turning and turning the wheel. Kind of like it's slipping gears in the gear box WTF???

But as far as i know it doesn't do anything to the car, just rubs. Atleast it hasn't done anything to mine....yet....*crosses fingers and knocks on wood*

Re: Wheel Rub????

I think it was the shock mount was just getting old and broke, which then caused the shock to break too. I still drove it like this and it had a ruff ride but i thought that was normal for a f-body. Then one night the shock poped out of place and thats when i noticed it rubbing badly when i turned left (my tire smoked from that as you can see in the picture). So if you are not sure, pop the tire off and take a good look to see if theres a problem to be fixed before it gets worse.
