What size are the ABS brake line nuts?

I need to remove the ABS brake lines so I can pull the engine out the bottom but I dont know if I need to buy SAE or METRIC wrenches to do it...or should I just use the ole' vice grips?

12mm I believe. I had to gently use vise grips on mine because they were so tight.

If I just get stainless braided brake lines will this solve my problem? I havent looked at how the attach yet and which ones need to be removed.

Yes 12 mm.
They can be insanely tight, and it is easy to round them over then you are screwed.

I took a crows foot wrench and heated it up then closed it some to make it closer to 11.8mm or so. This makes it fit the flare nut very tight with no slop, in fact I have to force it on slightly. Doing this will help ensure you dont round it over.

The vice grips can work but you are at risk of still damaging the flare nut. Try what i suggested above and the flare nut will not get damaged.

After looking up pics of each wrench it seems like the flare nut wrench would work best since it has more than 2 sides. It seems like I could just use a regular open ended wrench instead of the crows foot.

Bingo! Brake line nuts are soft and easily round off. You have the best chance of winning this battle using the right tool for the job.

Yup, Thats why I forced my tool to fit snug and my flare nuts show no sign of wear at all. It is insane how tight those thing can get.
