What bends first?

I hit a curb hard a few months back and knocked my alignment way out of wack. I lowered the car and went to have it aligned and to get it to align they had to notch out the slot where the control arm bolts to the k-member. I am sure I bent something up there, and am thinking the spindle would be the easiest thing to bend. Has anyone else had this problem? BTW, the car always aligned perfect before hitting the curb, I only started having problems after the curb incident, so I know something must have gotten bent.

Oh yes ... the knuckles are not as "tough" as you might think. Hopping an FIA curb on a road course will cause the knuckles to bend.

Over half of the used/salvage knuckles I've purchased for race cars we build have been bent.

Now, realize that we are trying to get as much negative camber as we can get. So any "bend" will affect that. You could very well buy a used one and it be just fine.

FYI ...

MY car did not even have enough camber adjustment in it to get it to stock specs after i lowered it. Is the knuckle the same thing as the spindle?

Yes ... GM calls it a knuckle. Most everyone calls it a spindle, though.

Awesome, I have some laying around I might swap in and see if the alignment shop can do any better with it.
