Welding in BMR SFCs
Well I started to weld in my BMR boxed SFCs today and managed to melt my one fuel line. My question is what has everybody used to protect their fuel lines while welding in SFCs?

Aluminum foil. Triple wrap is plenty for splatter protection. They can't touch the super hot areas though.
Good thing you didn't start a fire. I had mine unhooked, and apparently moved em without noticing, and they drained a half cup of gas while I welded. Spark hit the puddle and poof. It was like blowing out my 100th birthday cake, but I managed

We used aluminum flashing. Sorry to hear about burning your fuel line. You are lucky you didn't catch it on fire!
Good luck with the rest of the install. Make sure to clean and paint the new welds or that area tends to rust quickly.

Re: Welding in BMR SFCs
Sorry about posting it in the LT1 forum. Didn't know if the LS1s ran the lines in the same exact spot. The line actually did catch fire for a second . Luckily my buddy was pretty fast with the extinguisher . We then wrapped the line in the Edelbrock self sealing tape and wrapped it in aluminum foil and then managed to weld the rest of it without burning my car to the ground. I then cleaned the welds and painted them. Other than the small fire the job came out pretty well I think. Thanks for all the info

I'm a metal guy, but never done the SFC's yet. To clean the paint off or clean the slag off the welds, a wire wheel works great, put it on a drill and have at it. As SOON as you're done cleaning, hit it w/ some primer to help seal the vounerable bare metal. Use about two to three coats, then the paint of your choice...
