Upgraded to LS1 rear brakes
Got my new rear installed tonite. I bought a leftover SS 0 mile unit form SLP for a song. Instead of swaping the LT1 brakes from my current rear I decided to use the LS1 stuff the rear was already set up for.
I can definately say that anyone who says that LS1 rear brakes are no better than LT1 rear brakes is dead wrong. The LT1 brakes I was running had Power Slot rotors and Hawk HPS pads and worked very good. Due to money reasons, for right now I installed stock rotors and used the used pads that were in the used calipers I bought from a board member. Even handicaped with cheap rotors and worn stock pads the LS1 rear brakes work remarkably better. I can't wait to get sloted rotors and Hawk HPS pads for the rear.
The parking brake also seems to work a lot better.

Re: Upgraded to LS1 rear brakes
The parking brake setup is alot better, and that's it. If you look at the rotor size, and swept area of the pad between the two setups, and then consider how much of the braking the rears actually do, you're looking at a negligeble gain. Maybe you notice it because you're still running crappy front calipers with those C5 rotors
Re: Upgraded to LS1 rear brakes
I'm still waiting to install my LS1 front brake conversion, just waiting for some good weather. I've read on several posts on this board that the LS1 rear brakes were not worth the extra money, but if they work as good as you say they do and I find a pair cheap then maybe it is something to consider.
Re: Upgraded to LS1 rear brakes
I've modified the stock proportioning valve on my car to deliver full pressure to the rears. It's possible it's why I noticed a bigger difference with the LS1 rears.
I'm hoping the braking will improve further when I install sloted rotors and a set of Hawk pads on the back. These made a difference when I installed them on the LT1 rear brakes.

No I don't think slotted rotors will make a noticable difference. But the Hawk HPS pads I'll be installing with them will make a very noticable difference. Read what I wrote!
