traction issues

My boyfriend and I were "testing" my car (2000 ss, vig 3200, bolt-ons) against a 6-cyl z3 and he kept up with me for a while since I the rear tires were spinning for a long time. This is sad. What I need to know is how do I increase traction? I can't get new tires and wheels yet (just got new tires). what suspension parts will make the most difference in general driving? I have lower control arms, subframe connectors, and a strut tower brace. would new springs and shocks make a world of difference? how about LCA relocation brackets? torque arm? I also don't know how to launch yet (just got the converter), but I figure I can fix that...

Re: traction issues

Sorry to tell ya but tires will make the biggest difference.
I have many suspension pieces on my car and with street tires they don,t do too much.
Suspension stuff will help, I have a drag launch kit and BMR torque arm and relocation brackets with street tires it spins pretty bad, with 275 Nittos I hook pretty good so a sticky tire will give you the best results.

Re: traction issues

Be sure to get a set of either BMR or Spohn LCAs. They will help alot along with the relocation brackets.

Re: traction issues

so tires it is then... I guess i'll just have to go burn the ones I have off! I have 9.5" wheels, can I fit 295 or 305 wide tires on them? I heard from a few people that 315's on 9.5" wheels is just a bad idea... so how wide can I go without compromising safety? also, if i managed to find a set of 10.5" rims could I put 315's on those? thanks...

Re: traction issues

10.5 or 11 inch wide wheels are fine with 315's. To be honest I understand where people are comming from about the safety issue of running 315's on 9.5" wheels. The thing is I have known people that have run 315 nitto drags for years on there 9.5" wheels and have been fine. I'm also going to run 315's on my new Enkie "win" wheels I just got. Just my .02
