Tire Width.

What is the widest tire I can fit on a 8.5 inch wheel without going over 26/27 overall height.
I found 275/60/15s but that ends up being a 28 inch tire and ide rather go with 26 because the trans is a 700r4 and the rear gears are only 3.42
any taller and im afraid the s10 may not get up and go like it should.

Re: Tire Width.

so get a 275 50R15 or a 275 45R15

its the middle number that effects the hieght.

first number is width in mm, the second is sidewall hieght pefcentage of width, and then the wheel size.

Re: Tire Width.

If you went with 275's that is almost 11 inches on an 8.5 inch rim.

Re: Tire Width.

Yeah I realize that. I think thats why I can only find them in the 28 inch variety
Mickey Thompsons site said those would work on a 8 inch rim. Probably due to sidewall height.

Re: Tire Width.

i'm somehow able to fit 275/60/15s on my stock 15X7 rims, don't care too much about the height either since i can fix that with a new speedo gear no prob.
