Thanks

Re: Is there a diffrence between LT1 & LS1 power steering pumps?

what were the symptoms before it went out!?!??!

i think mine is about to... (i have ls1 '00)

mine has been getting worste each week it seems(the noise)

makes a rather loud noise when turning wheel(at slower speeds, and not as loud, but still there at higher speeds)

and if going under 10 mph(backout driveway) and i turn, seems to be kinda of jumpy..

I would like to know this as well, since the LS1's reservoir is on the top of the pump, I think it would clean things up a bit if did the alternator relocation to the AIR pump location, then move the reservoir to the pump instead of on the fenderwell, or simply use the whole LS1 setup. This, along with hiding the fender wires and relocating the alternator, I think, would really clean up things under the hood.

Re: Is there a diffrence between LT1 & LS1 power steering pumps?

I think I have answered what I was looking for.

The pumps are nearly identical. The only difference that I have seen is that the shaft is a different part number. It may not mate up correctly with the belt drive.

Also, I do not believe there is any advantage to swapping to the LS1 PUMP. The difference that I was thinking of is probably with the gear ratio in the rack and pinion. I don't plan on changing that.

Klypto - The symptom I am having seems to be close what you are referring to. Mine whines real bad when it gets cold. It doesnt seem to change tone when I steer though. That sounds more like the rack and pinion.
