Suspension Maintenance Questions

Hey everyone. I have about 143 - 144,000 miles on my car and the suspension has always been a little rough since I acquired it with 54,000 miles on it. After driving my new car for the past few years, driving the t/a has seemed pretty rough as far as the road comes. I've ridden in other 4th gens and I've noticed the suspensions are significantly better.

My question is, what brand names/parts would you recommend? I'm not looking for the very best 1/4 time or the very best slalom. I'm looking for a suspension that will give a much better ride than now (which would probably be anything) with good handling. I'm also not looking to spend an arm and a leg to purchase the parts. If stock is what I need that is fine also (perhaps I could go to that WS6 stuff though?)

As always, thanks in advance.

I just rebuilt my suspension over the past 2 years at around the same mileage you indicated. I wanted a bit better than the stock ride, so I went with Strano provided Bilstein HD shocks 35mm front sway bar (my bar was broke when I removed it! ). New ball joints, and was able to get ahold of a full set of new oem 1le suspensions bushings (a bit stiffer than stock) front and back. Wonderful improvement!

When removing the old suspension bushings, I noticed they were very worn out (cracked, dry, loss of resiliency...) They were a pain to remove (think I ended up burning a few out) but it was definitely worth it.

I still need to address the steering, its a bit loose and not sure if it is play in the rack an pinion, or a worn out rag joint in the shaft..

Hope this helps!

I also went with some Strano parts and couldn't be happier:
35mm swaybar (highly recommend!) new Bilstien revalved shocks, and i also got 1" hotchkis lowering springs (little more bumpy around town, WAY more fun in the corners ).
I also replaced my front LCA bushings, and right now I'm waiting for some new poly ball rear control arms
