Suspension install

Are there any step by step tutorials on the web for installing shocks and springs on our cars? Will be replacing the shocks and springs on my car this summer and would prefer to do it myself to not only save money but to also get better acquainted with my vehicle. It would probably be the SLP Bilsteins and Eibachs if it makes a difference.

I have a basic install guide on my Cardomain page for the Bilstien/Eibach install.

The rears are CAKE!! The fronts are a bit more involved. You can rent a spring compressor form Autozone.

You'll need the TX-47 bit for the front shock removal. I have to update that, come to think of it.. I'll do it now.

Here's a good link http://www.houston-f-body.org/forums...php?topic=10.0

The 2 Torx bolts are a T50 on the driver's side top of the shock.

Thanks guys for the links! If I went to a suspension place, like Midas for example, would they put my fronts together for me so I could just bring them home and slap them in myself?

It wouldn't hurt to call them and ask. Alot of shops are willing to put together the struts/springs for a small charge.

The local Pep Boys charged about $20 per assembly to swap the springs or shocks. Make note of the orientation of the top mount to the lower shock mount. The assembly can't be rotated once reassembled. It's also common for the top nut to be rusted in place.

If you don't feel like dealing w/ it then I say ok. But it's really not that bad. I kinda enjoyed doing it. Worth the blood and sweat. ..

More sweat than blood....

Bringing this back from the dead...

Are there any bushings or Ball Joints that I should replace while im putting the suspension in? The suspension is all stock currently with 125,000 miles on it. I wouldnt mind replacing a few things even if they dont REALLY need it, especially if it would be really easy with the suspension taken apart.

With that amount of mileage, you would see some improved benefits by replacing all of the bushings and ball joints while you are at it. Along with the shocks and springs, you'll have a entirely different car. Spohn sells the entire bushing kit and also carries balljoints and tie rod ends. http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1401

Are there any packages like that, but with rubber bushings and such? I realize poly is much better performance wise, but while this car is my daily driver, id rather not sacrifice the slight noise and comfort that come with poly over rubber.
