suspension help!
suspension help!
I have a 1994 formula with a T-56 in it. I want to put a little better suspension on it and a little better launch at the drag strip. I'm looking at adding better springs and shocks. Also looking at an adj. TQ arm from Moser and lower CA from spohn. Any ideas on what springs and shocks to run (front and rear).
Do you want it optimized for straight line/track use only (QA1 shocks/Eibach Drag Launch springs) or do you want it to be useful for street use and decent cornering as well (Koni double adjustables, with stock springs or slightly modified springs)?
Ditto on the lower control arms. For 1/4-mile use, poly bushings will work fine. For street use, the poly bushings can put the suspension in bind when the body rolls. In that case, there are designs with poly bushings and an integral ball to allow the body roll, or you opt for one poly bushing/one rubber bushing, or one poly bushing/one rod end. Again, depends how you plan to use the car - and what your tolerance for noise is.
Add LCA relocation brackets to your list. They will help reduce wheel hop. A more rigid tubular panhard rod with stiffer bushings will help as well. I'd put the adjustable torque arm lower on the list of priorities. And the Moser arm I've seen mounts to the tailshaft of the tranny - some people prefer a front mount that attaches to the floor pan. I wouldn't put the Moser arm very high in the preferred list. Look at the Spohn part - again, there are tradeoffs with noise.
Consider sub-frame connectors, to reduce body twist. And get some sticky tires, or all the suspension parts will not help much at all.
