Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
Does the trap door fuel pump mod decrease structual ridgity in 4th gens? Since I did this mod my rear hatch seems to squeck a little going over large bumps. Do you think that 2 point or 3 point subframe connectors would help with this, or am i just being paranoid?
Re: Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
I had subframes on the car before did the same fuel pump door mod and I haven't noticed any squeaking or any difference. The subframe connectors probably do help for this, as well as many other things.
Re: Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
If your hatch squeaks, adjust the 2 rubber stops in the rear corners of the hatch. Un screw them a little to keep the hatch from moving when you go over bumps. SFCs won't affect that squeak.
Re: Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
Thanks for the idea bud. It just seems that since it just started doing this after the trap door mod, that there might be a little side to side twisting in the rear of the car. If adjusting the hatch doesn't work than I will try sfcs.
Is your squeaking sound coming from either side or middle. I was having a squeak that sound like it was coming from rear toward the right. Pulled cover off the tire compartment and checked tightness of tire holder. Squeak-squeak, took out tire and it was causing contact between tire and metal tube that antenna wire runs up to rear Quarted inner pannel. Took a piece of water pipe insulator tube I had in basement and wraped around full length. "NO SQUEAK". Give it a try.

Just tightening the thing that holds the spare tires stopped that squeak for me.
Re: Are sub frame connectors a good idea with the fuel trap door mod
It's not the spare tire/ jack, i took it out and did the same thing. It's seems like the rear hatch is shifting a little bit over bumps. I adjusted the rear hatch rubber stops and it seemed to help some. I know a lot of people have done this mod before and was interested to see if anybody else experianced anything similar.
