stock shocks/lowering springs question

ok, so, here we have it, say i use new stock shocks, i know, i know, i'm poor... if the perch is the same as with a stock spring, and now we're using a 1" lower spring, wouldnt there be a gap between the spring and the top perch? do u see what i mean, whats up with this, how is this not a factor/how is it overcome?

thanks
ian

the shock is jsut in a different stat of extention.

DO NOT use the stock shocks with lowering springs, your ride will suck, and only get worse.

The only way there will be space between the top of the spring and the upper spring perch is if your car is lighter than air. Otherwise the car will set on the top of the springs. If the spring is shorter than the stock spring, that is what lowers the car's ride height.
