Question steering wheel slop

Hi I can rock my steering wheel up and down especially in the up tilt position. Is this a repairable issue or do I have to replace the whole column? Thanks Richard

Re: steering wheel slop

Did you check the bolts that hold the steering column up against the bottom of the dash?

Re: steering wheel slop

There are four bolts inside the column that come loose. That allows the upper part of the column to move around. Its a common problem. Do a google search for loose GM tilt columns. There are several tutorials on how to fix it. It isn't hard to fix but requires taking the column apart down to the tilt mechanism. You need several specialty tools. If you don't want to get the tools, any repair shop should be able to fix it.
