Steering Linkage Reinstall

I took my steering linkage loose to get my Pacesetter LTs in from the top. Headers went in easily once I jacked up the motor.

I got the headers all buttoned up, but I am having a problem getting the bottom of the steering linkage to go all the way down. Any tips, methods that you are suppose to use to do this. Thanks!

Did you have to spread the bottom of it apart? I tried tapping it on with no luck.

I've had to just put some lube on it and wiggle it on a bit. More often than not with the bolt out it just falls on as long as its lined up. Its getting the shaft back on the steering wheel side that has always been tough for me.

No, you do not have to spread it apart.

Lube up the center slip joint and slide it closed, making the shaft shorter. Then put the bottom on 1st, making sure it is aligned with the flat part. Then you can tap the slip joint with a hammer to get the top on the steering shaft.
