SSBC front brake kit, bolt on 1st gen....

I just installed the SSBC aluminum bolt on brake kit for my 69 camaro (a180-S) and I used auto speciality cross drilled/slotted rotors. It says that you should drive carefully and break the pads in slowly so that they do not glaze the rotors.

I went out and drove them a few miles and have a terrible squeak coming from the fronts. Kind of comes and goes. I am assuming that the squeak should go away in the near future. I also changed all the brake lines to the stainless steel and am going to get the lines power bleeded (blead) tomorrow.

Anyone ever try this application and get this squeaking. The pads that are on the car are the green SSBC pads that came with the kit and when I ordered them from Summit they said that it is the proper configuration.

Hoping that the squeak goes away...maybe when I drive the car tomorrow they will set in a little better....

hopeful-

Well the squeak is going away as the brakes are settling in.

Even after bleeding them by hand a few times the vacuum bleed is the way to go. The pedal is real hard, doesn't take much air at all to make them soft.

Gotta love manual brakes!
