Spring rate questions for drag racing...

I was randomly looking at the QA1 HAL shocks on thunder and was wonder, why would you want a lighter spring up front for drag racing? And also, would you want a stiffer, or lighter spring out back? TIA

Re: Spring rate questions for drag racing...

i asked sam the same thing - pretty much. you want the front spring to let the front of the car come up easily to shift weight to the back. as far as the straight line stuff goes your stock spring height is fine. going adjustable lets you config the car for track and road course with one shock. you make the front light to shift the weight back for the track and go the other direction to put it on a road course. i believe then you need the back shock stiff to keep your rear tires on the ground to get the traction. IMHO

So would you want a soft spring out back too? Or the stiffer one to help plant the tires?
