shock installation questions

I just ordered a set of Bilsteins for my '99 Z/28 & have a few questions to ask anyone who has done the insallation themselves. It looks pretty straight forward but you never know till you get into it.How difficult is it ? How much time should I set aside to do it ? Anything special I should know, like should the car be jacked up or would it be better to do on a set of ramps, tricks to making install and/or removal of old shocks easier, etc.? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Re: shock installation questions

You will need to get the wheels off the ground. The backs are pretty easy. The fronts can be a bit harder. Injuneer has a write-up for Hal shocks that will be similar to doing stock shocks.

Re: shock installation questions

Its very easy, it took me a little over an hour to do mine. The biggest PITA was taking apart most of the rear hatch interior stuff just to access the top shock mounting nuts. Other than that, it is pretty simple and straight forward.

2000GTP,Thanks for the warning about taking apart the rear hatch interior,I wasn't even thinking about that but I'm glad to know ahead of time.

Just fold down your rear seat . Theres two cuts on the carpet (on left and right side) you'll get the shock nuts there no need to take anything apart.
