Shock hittin' swaybar..

Just installed a Spohn 1" rear swaybar, and the passenger side of the bar' is right up against the adjuster **** on my QA1 shock...Just wondering what other people have done to remedy this, other than buying the lower mount relocation kit that MADMAN makes...Anybody?

Try rotating the base of the shock so the **** is on the other side. When Steve Spohn did his first "race version" sway bar trial install on my car with the QA1 shocks, we realized that the shock would need to have the **** relocated 180* to clear the sway bar/linkage. I already had the QA1's moved back about 1/2" from the stock mount location, using a longer bolt and a spacer, so that may also have affected the clearance.

It wont work if you swap the shocks from side to side,b/c the **** will still be on the inside, on that side. I might try and "massage" the lower shock mount, about a 1/4" away from the swaybar..I wouldnt think that would harm the shock any, would it? Or its operation...

You don't have to swap anything. Take the nut off the bottom bolt, pull the shock off, and turn the base of the shock 180*, push it back over the bolt and put the nut back on. The **** will now be on the opposite side of the shock from the swaybar. I'll post a picture in the morning if you don't believe it works. I have the huge "drag style" sway bar, with the rod ends on the end links, and it was right up against the ****.
