Rear end alignment
Rear end alignment
Recently I had new front tie rod ends installed and had the shop perform a 4 wheel alignment with it. They gave me a spec sheet with the alignment results, and if I remember right ( it was a few monts ago and I can't remember what I did with the slip ) the rear end was off by 10 degrees. Is this normal? I know the factory rear end isn't dead on, but is that a lot? I don't know a lot about alignment , but it sounds like a lot. If I were to install an adjustable panhard bar, will the rear end be able to be brought closer to neutral?
Without the print-out it's impossible to say what's wrong here. But if anything back there really was 10° off you would not have any problem seeing that something was terribly wrong. Even if you didn't know a single thing about cars.
The tires would be into the sheetmetal if it was a 10° thrust angle error, or the axle would have to be bent so badly somewhere that it would be impossible to turn the axles if it was either toe or camber. Out of curiosity, do you remember which of those was "off"?
I'm wondering if you overlooked a decimal point (possibly due to the printer running low on ink) or if the angle was given in minutes (1/60 degree) rather than whole degrees. The shop that did the work should at least be able to tell you the format of the print-out data or show you one from another job.

Hmm, then I must have read it wrong, there are no obvious flaws and the wheels seem to wear evenly, and it doesn't crab going down the road. I'll have to see if i can find the spec sheet and look it over more closely.
Thank you,
