Seems my driver side rear brake loves to make a very annoying squeaking sound when driving. Pitch gets louder depending on speed. Goes away when I apply brake pressure. I checked the pads and they seem perfectly fine. A shop told me that this is sometimes normal on camaros. I read posts on it as well. They even told me to hit the caliper with Wd40 ... for some reason.. that doesn't sound too wise. Just curious what it might be or if I should try new pads.

 

Don't hit the caliper with WD40!

If you think you want to lubricate the caliper, get the proper High Temp caliper lube, pull back the dust boots over the slide pins, and carefully apply the lube to the slide pins. Be sure to get a good seal on the dust boots when reseating them...

It's hard to tell what is causing the squealing, but it could be the caliper is not floating properly on the slide pin.

You may also try just cleaning the brakes with a good brake cleaner.

 

yeah something told me hitting it with WD40 would be a bad idea. I'll have another look @ the caliper. Thank you!
