Rear brake problems, need to solve before autocross

Well, in addition to the normal and VERY annoying rattle/squeak from the rear pads shaking in the rear calipers on my 97 z28, lately I have a new problem. A few times after taking a turn (not using the brakes) it sounds like one of the pads gets put out of line or something. What I mean by this is it then sounds like my pads are worn all the way to the metal. Giving you that metal to metal sound, and it does this without putting the brakes on. After driving around for a bit it disappears. I have plenty of pad left. Any ideas?

Possibly the piston is sticking or the caliper is not sliding properly.

well, on my 94, i was pissed at the clips so i threw them after trying to push them together. so the pads are free roaming, but they have yet to make noise on me or rattle. to test those caliper pistons, put the back on jack stands. turn the car on and hold the brakes. release and get out and try and turn the wheel by hand. this is the only advice i can give you. I'm no pro
