rattling in rear of car?

Ok here's the deal, when im driving straight, you can hear every now and then a clunking noise, but always hear squeaking that slows down and speeds up with the car. Im thinking worn pads but it sounds a bit different then most of the cars I've had before that had the pads where down. Now when I turn right, there is a pretty loud clunking noise that you can hear slightly when driving straight but really loud when turning right. And when I turn left there is a god awful squealing like metal on metal just like you'd get out of putting on the brakes when the pads are worn down bare. Now thing is, when I apply the brakes EVERYTHING quits. Every noise goes away, the squeaking when driving, the squealing when turning left and even the clunking if I apply the brake when turning right will go away. What exactly could this be?? Im assuming its brake system related. Just wanna make sure.
