Question Question about relocation brackets and LCA's...

When using relocation brackets, do you have to use adjustable LCA's?
Also, who makes the best tubular LCA's? Do all manufacturers use the same tube size/thickness?
Thanks.

Re: Question about relocation brackets and LCA's...

1) Do you plan on running faster than 1.3 60' times? Tubular bars can hold a lot of power and are very good. Boxed ones are overkill unless you are in the 9 second club in my mind.

2) All tubular/boxed LCA makers use roughly the same metal/thickness, and they all perform so close to eachother you cannot tell the difference.

All aftermarket LCA and PHR makes overbuild things for the average person. Tubulars from almost any brand will do, unless you want to run 9 seconds.

Ok, what about his first question? Can you have relocation brackets and adj LCA's?

You do not have to have adjustables to run relocation brackets, but you can if you want. Most people use adjustables to center the axle in the fender well for use with larger tires.

I tend to consider the installation of relo brackets as sufficient reason all by itself for getting adjustable LCAs. For one reason or another, relo brackets have been known to end up installed with the LCA pivot holes located slightly unsymmetrically (left vs right), so having adjustable LCAs gives you a means of squaring the axle in the chassis (aka zero thrust angle on the alignment rack). Errors introduced by slight differences in LCA length are generally insignificant.

I use the Spohn stuff. I currently use the Spohn rod end/rod end LCAs and they are fantastic. Spohn sells the weld in relocation brackets, too. I don't use the relo brackets because I had them on my 10 bolt and didn't reduce my 60's at all. They work for some, though...Check out www.spohn.net...
