Pros and Cons of dropping

I am a little interested in lowering my car an inch and a half or so. I think I probably would get eibach springs. I was wondering what are the pros and cons of lowering a car. The only reason I want to do it is for looks but if it will make the car not fun to drive, then i wont do it.

Do i need anything besides the lowered springs?

Will i still be able to go up my driveway, I already scrape my underbody wind deflector when backing out of the driveway.

pro-good looks, improved handling
cons-decreased ground clearance

just go over speed bumps and up drive ways sideways.

Well, it is not quite that easy. Inch and a half is quite a bit of lowering, and to be able to lower that much and not have an adverse affect in handling, those springs will have to be very stiff, which will translate into a much harsher ride. Also, your bumpstops will be working overtime when you are lowered that much. And aligments will be a pain when you are lowered that much. Plus you will more than likely need better shocks if you go with stiff lowering springs... I personally think the cons of lowering our cars an inch and a half by far outweigh the pros. JMHO.

Ok, that makes sense, if not by an inch and a half, what is a good level to drop?

3/4" to about an inch would be a good level. But like I said, you should still look into some better shocks if you are going to install lowering springs. SLP's Eibach lowering springs/Bilstein shocks combo seems to work pretty good.

Re: Pros and Cons of dropping

I had 2 5/8" clearance from the cat (lowest point on my car) with the Eibach's lowering the car 1 1/2". I never really had any trouble on the street. My mother-in-laws drive was too steep and I had to park on the street if I visited. The cornering ability is awesome with this upgrade and new shocks. I would definitely recommend them. They may make for a little bumpier ride but if you wanted a smooth ride you should buy a big Buick. I personally did not notice any difference in ride noise or quality.
