Re: problems hooking up

1. Sticky tires

2. Lower control arms (LCA's) and LCA relocation brackets.

3. Start saving for a new rear axle assembly.

Relocation brackets and torque arm is the best thing you will ever do. I would not even try until you get a new rear axle. That 10 bolt is good as gone as soon as you start hooking up. It is good for about high 11's.

A 5-point roll bar is not required until you run under 11.5-seconds in the 1/4-mile. Or do you mean front and rear sway bars?

sub frame connectors
Always a good idea on a unit-body car. I don't think you will see any dramatic changes in the way the car hooks, until you reach some fairly decent HP levels. I had 6-point chrome moly roll bar, and integrated chrome moly subframe connectors installed right after the 500 HP (800HP on nitrous) stroker was installed.

The only things that push the car forward when you accelerate are the rear lower control arms. They run from brackets on the bottom of the rear axle assembly to brackets on the rear subframe. They are angled upwards, so they tend to lift the chassis undre heavy acceleration, forcing the tires downward into the pavement. If the chassis has been lowered, the LCA's end up pointing down, rather than up. If the chassis squats under acceleration, you get the same problem. The chassis end of the LCA drops below the axle end, and the LCA pushes down on the chassis, worsening the squat, and the axle end of the LCA lifts the rear wheels. Wheel loses traction, forward accel drops, axle drops, wheel gains traction, cycle starts all over again = hop, hop, hop down the track.

The most successful high HP 4th Gens I have seen end to lift the rear of the body on launch, no squat.

Watch the rear of this Camaro on launch:

First and foremost like Fred mentioned, Tires.

The best of the best suspension components wont do anything if you have crappy tires. That is the FIRST place to start. Then that will force you to add the other pieces.
